Prof. Abdulhameed Umar Yusuf


Brief Biography

Professor Abdulhameed Umar Yusuf obtained his B.Sc (Hons) Zoology from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in 1991. In 1998 and 2011, he obtained his M.Sc and Ph.D degrees, respectively in Agricultural Entomology from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi. In 2007 he joined the services of Bayero University, Kano (BUK). In 2014, he was appointed the Head, Department of Crop Protection. In 2013 he was promoted to the rank of Associate Professor, while in 2016, he was promoted to the rank of full Professor. From 2016 to 2018, he served as the Dean, Faculty of Agriculture, BUK.

He is currently serving as a Visiting Professor with the Department of Crop Science, Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto since 2016. He joined the membership of the Association of Deans of Agriculture in Nigeria Universities (ADAN) in 2016 and is currently serving as a Member, Board of Trustees of the Association from 2018 to date.

He served as Coordinator, West Africa Agricultural Productivity Programme, (WAAP-BUK) from 2016 to 2018; Member, Advisory Board, Centre for Dryland Agriculture (CDA), Bayero University, Kano from 2014 to 2018 and Member, Centre for Dryland Agriculture (CDA) Technical Committee, Bayero University, Kano from 2016 to 2018.

He has published one book, many peer-reviewed articles in reputable national and international Journals and contributed chapters in 4 books.
He is also a Member of Entomological Society of Nigeria (ESN), Agricultural Society of Nigeria (ASN) and Nigerian Society for Plant Protection (NSPP).
