Faculty of Education and Extension Services
FACULTY OF EDUCATION AND EXTENSION SERVICES IN BRIEF
The Faculty of Education and Extension Services started a four-year integrated B.Sc. (Honours) degree programme for direct entry students with A level or equivalent qualification in 1980/81 session. The programme was based on a course unit system. The third year of the programme was devoted entirely to on-farm practical training.
In 1985/86 session, the programme was reviewed to allow for the admission of students with 0’level who would then graduate after 5 years. Since then, the practical training has shifted to the fourth year. From 1990 to date, the programme has been modified to a professional one named B. Agriculture. When the programme started in 1980/81 session, 13 students were admitted. The number has steadily increased over the years.
The programme was revised in 1989 to conform with the NUC Approved Minimum Academic Standards. During the 1997/98 session, there were about 600 students in the Faculty. The programme was further revised in 2011 to conform with the NUC Approved Minimum Academic Standard.
