Prof. M. B. Sokoto
Brief Biography
Born on 19th June, 1969, Mohammed Bello Sokoto obtained his Primary and Secondary Certificates in 1982 and 1988 respectively, NCE (Agric/Biology), B. Agric. [Crop/Soil Option (21)] in 1991 and 1996 respectively and M.Sc., PhD Crop Science in 2006 and 2012 respectively. I was a lecturer and later Head of Department of Agriculture at Sokoto State Polytechnic (Now Umaru Ali Shinkafi polytechnic, Sokoto) from 2001-2008 and later joined the services of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto as Lecturer I in 2008 and rose through the ranks to Professor of Agronomy in 2019. I supervised many Projects at Diploma and Undergraduate levels, two Ph.D. Thesis and twelve MSc Dissertations and currently supervising many ongoing Ph.D. and MSc. Students. I served in many capacities at Polytechnic and the University and was appointed Head of Crop Science Department in 2021-date. I am a member of Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRC), Agricultural Society of Nigeria (ASN), Agronomy Society of America (ASA), Soil Science Society of America (ASSA), Crop Science Society of America (CSSA), Horticultural Society of Nigeria, Wheat initiative and International Research and Development Institute. I attended many national and international conferences. I was external examiner and assessor to many Universities in Nigeria. I am married with children.
