Dr. Sanusi Bello Shamaki


Brief Biography

Dr. S.B. Shamaki is an Associate Professor of Forest Biometrics and Inventory in the Department of Forestry and Environment, Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, Nigeria. He holds a PhD in Forest Biometrics and has teaching and research experience in the university for over 15 years and supervised many students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He was Departmental SIWES Coordinator (2014-2018), Departmental Postgraduate Coordinator (2018 – 2020) and Acting Head of Department (2020 – Date). Shamaki has been an advocate of environmental conservation and green vegetation enthusiast. He has been actively involved in numerous environmental protection programmes (both government and non-governmental) such as climate change advocacy campaigns, sustainable waste management for safer environment, evergreen project, water conservation campaign, save80 for efficient energy utilization among others. His research interest is on Growth and Yield Modelling. Shamaki has served as a consultant on many forestry and environmental management projects funded by different organizations including National Fadama III project (World Bank funded), Oxfam International, NGGW, NNPC Plc hydrocarbon exploration survey (vegetation study component) of Sokoto and Niger Basin. He has over 40 research articles published in reputable national and international journals. Happily married and blessed with three (3) children.
