Dr. Garba Aliyu Abubakar


Brief Biography

Dr. Aliyu started working at Usmanu Dafodiyo University, Sokoto (UDUS) since 2008 as assistant lecturer. Now currently the Head of Department, Soil Science & Land Resources Management. He earlier worked as an Agric Officer II with Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Sokoto, a teacher (Master II) High school teacher at Hafsat Ahmad Bello Model Secondary School, Sokoto. Aliyu received his B. Agriculture & MSc. Soil Science from UDUS, & PhD in Soil Science from the University Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS), Beijing, China. He holds a professional Registered Soil Scientist (RSS) title, & membership with International Union of Soil Science (IUSS), Soil Science Society of Nigeria (SSSN) and Agricultural Society of Nigeria (ASN). Dr. Aliyu was awarded scholarship by The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) to pursue his PhD. Aliyu holds certificates of Merit conferred University of Chinese Academy of Sciences. Beijing, and Nanjing Municipal Government Scholarship, China and Tertiary Education Trust Fund Postgraduate Scholarship Award, Federal Government of Nigeria awarded to deserving students etc. Within UDUS, Aliyu participates in the community services, and holds many responsibilities: University member, Faculty Chairman & member to many Ad-hoc committees. Dr. Aliyu is an expert on the use of many software(s). PCR, SPSS, SigmaPlot, Origin, ArcGis, & Meta analysis.
