Dr. Y.M. Ahijjo


Brief Biography

Y. M. Ahijjo is a faculty member in the department of Physics, Faculty of Physical and Computing Sciences, Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto. He has a strong educational background with a Doctor of Philosophy in Physics, focused in Environmental and Health Nuclear Physics. He is currently a Senior Lecturer with a demonstrated history of quality teaching, research and community service. His skills are proven in publications where Particle Induced X-ray Emission (PIXE), Hyper Pure Germanium (HPGe) detector system, HIDEX for Liquid Scintillation Counting (LSC) system, Sodium Iodide Thallium (NaI (Tl)) detector, LINUX, EMPIRE, TALYS and ALICE-IPPE codes for nuclear reaction cross sections of various radionuclides were exemplified. Y. M. Ahijjo has traveled to Center for Advanced Studies in Physics (CASP), Government College University (GCU), Lahore, Pakistan and other notable centers of prestigious learning for conferences, seminars, workshops and symposia. He has authored many articles both in national and international journals. He is currently a member of several academic and scientific bodies such as Nigerian Institute of Physics (NIP), Science Teachers Association of Nigeria (STAN) etc. He has worn several grants and scholarships notably PTDF LSS 2007, TETFund conference sponsor, 2014, TETFund IBR, 2014/2015 collaborative research between UDUS & SSU and TETFund bench work, 2016. He has tutored, trained, supervised and graduated numerous BSc., MSc. and PhD students.
