Dr. B. B. Kwashabawa
Brief Biography
Bala Bakwai Kwashabawa was formally known as Bala Bakwai and is fondly called B.B.K by his family and school mates. He was born in Kwashabawa town under Zurmi Local Government Area in Zamfara state on the 19 th of June, 1974. He attended Mallamawa Primary school, via Kwashabawa between 1979 and 1984. He furthered his education to Government Secondary School, Kaura–Namoda between 1985 and 1990. Kwashabawa first adventure was joining the military where he served with the Nigerian Army between 1993 and 2006. In the military, he attended the Nigerian Army School of Education (NASE), Sobi, Ilorin, Kwara State, where he obtained Nigerian Certificate in Education (NCE) between 1995 and 1998. Later in 2001, he obtained Diploma in Computer Studies from the Afri Network Computers, Bassa, Jos. Between 2005 and 2008 he obtained Bachelor’s Degree in Education (B.Sc.Ed) in Economics from the prestigious Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto. He also obtained Masters of Education Degree (M.Ed) in Educational Administration and Planning from the same Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto between 2009 and 2013. By 2014, two year after his appointment to a position of graduate assistant in UDUS, he went to University of Ilorin, Kwara State for his Ph.D programme in Educational Management which ended in the year 2016. His next job experience after his service with the military was with UDUS in 2012. He grew through the ranks and is currently a Senior Lecturer with specialization in Educational Management, in the Departmentof Educational Foundations, Faculty of Education and Extension Services, Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto. Among many responsibilities held by Kwashabawa include Level Coordinator, Project Coordinator, B,Ed Part- time Unit Level Coordinator, Coordinator of Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE), Faculty Postgraduate Coordinator and many others. Kwashabawa served under different committees in different capacity as member, secretary or as chairman such as concept-note development committee, research committee, disciplinary committee, examination monitoring committee, etc. He is an author of several journal articles, book chapters, conference papers at local, national and international level. Kwashabawa is an international scholar with strong research interest in School Community Relationship (SCR), School Based Management Committee (SBMC), Community Participation (CP), School Effectiveness, Student’s Conduct, Security Education and Girls Education. His works in these areas are published in Q1 and Q2 journals. Some of his works are trending in Amazon. He is an editor and reviewer of many academic journals including International Journal of Topical Educational issues and International Journal of Research and Innovation in Social Science (IJRISS).
Kwashabawa participated in organizing, coordinating, facilitating and presenting papers in many educational programmes, seminars, workshops and conferences both physical and virtual in and outside the country. He is a member Commonwealth Council of Educational Administration and Management (CCEAM) London, Association of Theorist in Educational Management in Africa (ATEMA) and National Association of Educational Administration and Planning (NAEP). He is consultant to many governmental and non-governmental organizations in and outside Nigeria.
