Brief Biography

Ahmed Isah Chafe was born in Chafe in the then North Western State on Nigeria on 21st September, 1960. He attended JNI Primary School Chafe and Giginya Memorial College Sokoto where he passed out in 1977. He then gained admission for a Diploma in Statistics in the then State Polytechnic, Birnin Kebbi. He later attended Ball State University, Muncie, Indiana, USA, where he graduated with a Degree in Industrial Technology with bias in Computer Science. He later obtained a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) at the Usmanu Danfodiyo University.

After his graduation, he joined the services of the Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto in 1989, where he rose through the ranks to become its first Director of Information and Communication Technologies since 2001 to date. He served the University and the general community in various capacities including the University Strategic Planning, University Management Tenders Committee. He also served as the Project Manager, World Bank Assisted Science and Technology Post Basic (STEP-B) Project at the University. He was also a member of the University Governing Council of the Usmanu Danfodiyo University.

At the State level, Ahmed Chafe chaired the Committee for the development of ICT Blue Print for the State, member, Sokoto State University Planning Committee, member Sokoto State Implementation Committee, Chairman, Committee for the establishment of Computer Technology Institute, member, Technical Committee on “State of Education in Sokoto State”, and Chairman, Committee for the review of Personnel and Payroll Databases of the State
.
At the National level, Ahmed Chafe was a member of the Nigeria Research and Education Network (NgREN) Planning as well as the Implementation Committees.

He is currently the Director ICT at the Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto and In-House ICT Consultant to Federal University, Birnin Kebbi, Federal University, Gusau, Sokoto State University and Kebbi State University of Science and Technology, Aliero.

He is happily married with eight children.
