M.Ed. CURRICULUM STUDIES
Philosophy
The philosophy of the M.Ed. Degree programme in Curriculum Studies is anchored on the belief that students should be provided advanced and comprehensive training in all aspects of curriculum design, development, and evaluation in a logical, integrated, and interactive manner. This is to enable them assume responsibilities for and provide leadership in the design and management of school curricula, in a variety of educational settings at local, national, and international levels.
Aim
The aim of the programme is to train high level manpower that possess knowledge, skills, and research capabilities in all aspects of curriculum studies.
Objectives
The objectives of the programme are to:
- Enable the students to acquire advanced knowledge and skills in curriculum design, planning, and development.
- Prepare students to participate in and provide leadership in curriculum policy making and administration.
- Offer students a solid research background and exposure in all areas of curriculum studies.
- Prepare students for higher degrees in specialised branches of curriculum studies.
Admission Requirements
- Five O’Level credits passes in English Language, Mathematics, and three relevant subjects.
- Bachelor Degree in Education of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto or other institutions with a minimum of Second Class Honours lower division.
- In addition to i-ii above, a candidate must satisfy the university’s requirements for matriculation.
- Any other qualification acceptable to the Board of Postgraduate School and the Senate of Usmanu Danfodiyo University.
Mode of Study
The programme shall be on full time basis and shall be by coursework and research to be embedded in Dissertation.
Duration
Minimum of 24 calendar months and a maximum of 36 calendar months.

As may be determined by the University from time to time.

Register and pass a minimum of 40 credit units Taught courses.

- Carry out research on relevant area of specialization and submit an acceptable Dissertation which shall be defended before a panel of internal and external examiners and shall be graded.
- Present at least two Seminars, at most one per semester.
