Dr. Muhammad Mansur Aliyu
Brief Biography
Dr. Muhammad Mansur Aliyu, a teacher and a legal practitioner was born on 10th October, 1982, at Dutsin-ma town, Katsina State. He obtained his primary school certificate from Kadangaru Primary School Dutsin-ma in the year 1993 and in the year 1999 obtained his secondary school certificate from Sir Usman Nagogo College of Arabic & Islamic Studies Katsina (formerly called ATC Katsina). He obtained a diploma certificate in languages (DAHIS) from Bayero University Kano in the year 2004 and the year 2012 he bagged his LL.B (Second Class Upper) from Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto. In the year 2013 he was called to the Nigerian bar after he successfully passed the bar final exams after completion his studies at Nigerian Law School, Abuja Campus. He served his mandatory National Youth Service at the Chambers of Musa Abdullahi and Co, Tudun Wada, Kaduna in 2014. He enrolled into LL.M at Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto and he successfully completed in the year 2017. In his pursuit of knowledge, the following year, i.e., 2018 he enrolled into Ph.D. laws, which he successfully completed in the year 2023.
Mansur joined the services of Usmanu Danfodiyo University on 8th April, 2019. He taught many law courses such as Law 207 – Qur’an and Hadith, Law 208 – Application of Islamic Law in Nigeria, Law 303- Law of Torts, Law 308 Islamic Law of Crimes and Torts, Law 512 Criminal Procedure. He also held/holds many responsibilities within the University such as Departmental Examination Officer of Islamic Law, Faculty of Law, Coordinator Diploma Program, Coordinator Law Clinic Faculty of Faculty of Law, Faculty of Law Representative to the Faculty of Science Board, Member Faculty of Law Misconduct Committee, etc. He has been active into the activities of the Nigerian Bar Association, Sokoto Branch. He served as a pioneer secretary general of NBA Young Lawyers’ Forum, Sokoto Branch, NBA Sokoto Publicity Secretary and he is currently Vice Chairman, NBA Sokoto Branch. He is also into active practice of law and currently serves as managing partner of Mansur and Mansur Attorneys, Unguwar Rogo, Sokoto. Apart from being legal adviser for many NGOs and CSOs, he is currently the Chairman, Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) Sokoto State Chapter. He is happily married to Fatima Abdulhamid with children.
