Bachelor of Radiography


ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

  1. ‘O’Level: Candidates seeking admission in to the B.Rad. programme must possess a minimum of 5 credit passes in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, English Language and Mathematics plus an appropriate pass in Joint Admissions Matriculation Board (JAMB) Examinations.
  2. Direct Entry:
    1. Candidates for direct entry must possess at least ‘C’ grades in Physics and Chemistry or Biology at ‘A’ level plus five (5) credits at ‘O’ Level which must include Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics and English Language.
    2. Diploma in Radiography from a recognized institution with five credits at ‘O’ Level which must include Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics and English Language.
    3. Any other relevant qualifications acceptable to the University.

DURATION OF COURSE
The duration of the Bachelor of Radiography (B. Rad) programme is five (5) for 100 level and four (4) years for direct entry.

REQUIREMENTS FOR GRADUATION
These regulations are made in accordance with and subject to the general provisions of the examination regulations of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto. Additionally, the following regulations shall apply to the B.Rad. programme:

  1. The minimum pass mark for all the professional courses in Radiography are 50%. However the maximum score for all resit courses are capped at 50%.
  2. The minimum pass mark for courses offered in the Faculty of Science and GST courses should be 45%
  3. UG I students can only proceed to the next with the maximum of one carryover
  4. Assessment: There will be 3 professional examinations. The first professional examination will be at the end of the 300 level. The second professional examination will be at the end of the 400 level, and the third and final professional examination will be at 500 level.
  5. 1st Professional Examination is taken at the end of the 3rd year.    Subjects: Basic Radiographic Anatomy, and Basic Radiographic Physiology and Biochemistry.

ii)   2nd Professional Examination is taken at the end of the 4th year. Subjects: Radiographic Technique, Equipment for Diagnostic Radiography and Imaging Processes.
iii)3rd and Final Professional Examination is taken at the end of the 5th year. Subjects: In-depth knowledge of Radiographic Techniques, Equipment for Diagnostic Radiography,    Radiographic Imaging, New imaging techniques of CT and MRI and Imaging Processes, and assessment of the Project.

  1. External examiners shall moderate and be part of the three (3) professional examinations. Other examinations shall follow the accepted pattern in the relevant departments.
  2. To qualify for the examinations, students must have taken part in 70% of the academic programmes leading to the examinations.
  3. Duly certified logbooks must be presented before admission into practical examinations.

AWARD OF DEGREE
As a professional degree, the B. Rad shall not be classified.
