Background

The Centre for Gender and Environment (CEGS) at Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (UDUS), is a dedicated hub for advancing research and initiatives at the intersection of environment, gender and climate change. It was re-established in 2024 with a commitment to addressing critical societal and environmental challenges. The Centre focuses on fostering sustainable development through innovative, locally-driven solutions.

CEGS operates on the principle of “thinking globally and acting locally” by aligning its efforts with global frameworks, such as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), while tailoring its initiatives to address the unique needs of local communities.
