DEPARTMENT OF HAEMATOLOGY AND BLOOD TRANSFUSION IN BRIEF
At inception of the College of Health Sciences (CHS) in 1980, the Department of Pathology (which later on became Department of Pathology & Medical Microbiology) was created and comprised of the four sub-specialities of Pathology i.e. Haematology & Blood Transfusion, Chemical Pathology & Immunology, Morbid Anatomy & Forensic Medicine and Medical Microbiology and Parasitology. But in 2013 and in line with the standards of NUC and MDCN, these four sub-specialists were converted to fully fledged departments and thus giving birth to the present department.
Our Vision
To be a department that provides the best in training of both undergraduate and postgraduate students to acquire knowledge and professional skills required of them for the practice, teaching and research in the arena of Haematology and Blood Transfusion medicine.
Our Mission
To produce medical graduates who have acquired the wherewithal in terms of laboratory and clinically based knowledge and skills to enable them manage haematological disorders or other haematology related conditions.
