Electrical and Electronics Engineering
DEPARTMENT OF ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONICS ENGINEERING IN BRIEF
The Department runs a 5-year Bachelor degree (B.Eng.) Electrical & Electronics Engineering program. Students are admitted into level one through the Senior Secondary School Certificate such as National Technical Certificate (NTC), National Examination Council (NECO), West African Examination Counsel (WAEC) O’ level or any other approved national certificate based on the University entry requirements.
The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering ensures that, in addition to sound theoretical background, students will be thoroughly exposed to extensive and relevant laboratories and workshops experimentations and exercises. The practical skills, developed in the various Electrical and ElectronicsEngineering Laboratories will be complemented by industrial visits during vacation. A 4 to 8weeks Students Work Experience Program (SWEP) in Level II, a 3-month supervised Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme, Training SIWES I in Level III and a 6 months supervised Student Industrial Works Experience Scheme (SIWES II) in Level IV will be conducted in the whole of the second semester of the sessions. These will help the students relate academic work with practical industrial realities and capabilities. The overall goal of the Department is to produce Engineers who are relevant to the engineering manpower requirement in the public and private sector of the economy and who can initiate as well as carry out engineering designs, engage in industrial management and pursue research and development.
The Department of Electrical and Engineering is dedicated to educating undergraduate students in the diverse disciplines of the degree programs. These include:
- Communications Engineering
- Computer software and hardware
- Power and machines
- Control Engineering
- Electronics
- Energy Engineering
Our Mission
To address critical technological human and societal needs through innovation and problem solving; and provide excellent professional and educational programmes for high quality human resources in the field of electrical and electronics Engineering profession
The Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department was established during the 2016/2017 session, as an autonomous Department in the Faculty of Engineering and Environmental Design, Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto. The main objective was to offer opportunity for great scope of learning facilities, whereby Electrical and Electronics Engineers with proven engineering abilities can be produced for the Nation. The pioneer set of Electrical and Electronics Engineering students were admitted into part one during the 2017/2018 session after having successfully scored the required UTME point and satisfied the university requirement for the program and are presently in 300Level (UG3),
Our Vision
To be a world distinguish department in promoting Teaching, Research and innovations in the field of Electrical and Electronics Engineering Professions
