DEPARTMENT OF GEOLOGY IN BRIEF
The Department of Geology was established based on the recommendation at the end of the one day international workshop on the hydrocarbon potentials of the Sokoto Basins which was held on Thursday 30th April 2009; to establish the Department of Geosciences in the University (UDUS) with the mandate to further engage in the full research activities on these potentials in view of its natural resource development. Thus, the Senate of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto at its 275th meeting on Wednesday 9th January 2013 approved the establishment of the Department to commence its programme from 2012/2013 session.
Our Mission
To participate in regional research and exploration in the field of Geology, and to contribute towards wealth creation, as well as community services in any appropriate way irrespective of race, creed, religion, gender, nationality or ethnicity.
Our Vision
To be a center of excellence in the training of broad-based geology students with emphasis in field and laboratory work.
