REGISTRY IN BRIEF

Registry Department is the administrative organ of the University. The Department is headed by the Registrar who is the Chief Administrative Officer and Secretary to Council of the University. He is responsible to the Vice Chancellor for the day-to-day administration of the University. By virtue of his position, the Registrar is also the Secretary to the Senate, the Congregation and the Convocation.

The first Registrar of the University was Late Mr. H. B. Afolabi; who headed the Department from 1975 to 1984. Others include:

  • Hajiya Larai Osori 1984
  • O. Ayeni 1984 to 1986
  • M. M. Bunza 1987 to 1989
  • A. S. Usman 1989 to 2002
  • U. U. Bunza 2002 to 2012
  • M. K. Jabo 2012 to 2018

The Department is currently headed by Mal. Nurudeen Abubakar Belko, MNIM. Registry Staff provides administrative support services to all Units, Divisions, Departments, Directorates, Centres and Faculties of the University. The Department is represented in almost all the Committees of the University where its staff serves as Secretaries or Members/Secretaries of the Committees.

Registry Department has the following major Divisions, Units and Offices:

  1. The Office of the Registrar

The office is charged with the responsibility of assisting the Registrar with day-to-day administration of the Department and the University in general.

   2. The Academic Division

The Division is responsible for the implementation of Senate decisions on academic matters including inter-faculty transfer, deferment of admission for undergraduate, postgraduate and sub-degree students. The division is the custodian of the student’s academic records; it issues notification of results and certificates for all academic programmes and processes Academic Transcripts. In addition, it processes applications for change of name, convey decisions on student’s academic misconduct and verification of results, among others.

   3. The Establishments Division

The division deals with all establishment matters. It consists of Senior and Junior Staff Sections, Housing & Passages and Staff Training & Development Units.  Senior Staff Office deals with all Senior Staff matters and Junior Staff Office deals with all Junior Staff establishments matters. Housing & Passages Unit deals with allocation of staff houses, travel arrangements, visas and passport. The Staff Training & Development Unit deals with all matters relating to Staff Training & Development.

  4. General Administration and Council Affairs Division

The division deals with general administrative matters including postal services, in-house register in the discharge of sundry duties including but not limited to serving as the Secretariat of the University Governing Council. The main unit under this Division is the Legal Unit. It provides legal and ancillary services to the University.

Units
