Prof. M. G. Liman

Brief Biography

Prof. Liman, Muhammad Gidado was born on the 20th Day of February 1970 in Tambuwal, Tambuwal Local Government Area of Sokoto State. He received his primary education at the famous Township Primary school, (now Buhari Model Primary School) Tambuwal between 1976 – 1982. At the secondary school level, Prof. Liman was at Government Teachers College, Tambuwal, Government Secondary School, Koko, Government Science Secondary School, Yabo and Nagarta College, Sokoto. For the higher education, Prof. Liman was educated at Shehu Shagari College of Education (SSCOE), Sokoto, Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (UDUS) and Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). Prof. Liman obtained Diploma in Computer Studies and Graduate Diploma in Education from Shehu Shagari College of Education, Sokoto; Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Applied Chemistry from Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto and a PhD in Environmental Chemistry from Universiti Putra Malaysia. Prof. Liman started his teaching career in February 1998 at Government Girls Unity Secondary school, Bodinga in Sokoto State from where he eventually moved to Shehu Shagari College of Education, Sokoto in 2000. At SSCOE, Sokoto, Prof. Liman started as Lecturer III and rose to Lecturer I in 2006 before he finally moved to Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto in February 2007. At UDUS, Prof. Liman started as Lecturer I in 2007 and rose to a Professor in Applied and Environmental Chemistry in January 2022. Prof. Liman published several articles in peer reviewed academic journals, presented several papers at both local and international academic conferences, supervised several undergraduate projects, MSc dissertations and PhD theses. Prof. Liman examined about 10 MSc dissertations and is an External Examiner to Department of Pure and Industrial Chemistry, Kebbi State University of Science and Technology, Aliero. In terms of administration experiences, Prof. Liman was SIWES Coordinator, Project Coordinator, Unit Exams Officer, Departmental Exams Officer and Faculty Exams Officer, including chairmanship and membership of several Departmental, Faculty and University committees. Prof. Liman is a member to many professional bodies including Royal Society of Chemistry, England, Institute of Chartered Chemists of Nigeria, Chemical Society of Nigeria, Science Association of Nigeria and Science Teachers Association of Nigeria. Prof. Liman is happily married to two wives and is blessed with 10 children. Prof. Liman’s hobby includes reading, travelling, farming and mentoring younger colleagues
