Dr. Suleiman Aliyu Anka


Brief Biography

I was born July 1 st 1963 in Anka town of Anka Local Government Area, Zamfara State. I attended Institute of Education Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and obtained the Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) in Plant & Animal Science Option in 1986. Had my B. Sc. Ed. Degree in Biology in the Second Class Upper Division (1995); M. Sc. Degree in Botany ( 2002) & Ph. D. Degree in Botany (2016) from Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, Nigeria. I joined the services of Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto on June 24th, 2008 as Lecturer II, got promoted to Lecturer I in 2011, Senior Lecturer in 2018 and Reader in Plant Ecology (2021). I taught Biology and Chemistry to Certificate Levels 1 & 2 students of Nigerian Hotels and Catering School, Benin City, Edo State, during National Youth Service in 1995-1996. I taught Biology at Sambo Secondary School, Gusau, Zamfara State Ministry of Education (1996 - 2002), where I rose to Principal Eduation Officer (PEO) (Grade Level 13). I transferred to Zamfara State College of Education, Maru as Lecturer I in the Department of Biology in 2002 and Senior Lecturer in 2005. I have supervised over seventy Undergraduate Research Projects to completion and over ten postgraduate Research Dissertations/Theses and many are still ongoing. I attended no less than ten conferences both National and International and have paper presentations from those conferences so far. Presently, I have seventeen Articles published in Reputable Journals and one book for tertiary levels, a collaboration of two authors. (NB: Not more than 250 words)
