Dr. S. Y. Tsagem

Brief Biography

An indigene of Mani Local Government Area in Katsina state born on the 13th of March, 1975. He attended Dutsin Amare Primary school (1980-1986)for his primary education in Katsina town and went to Government College Katsina (1986-1989) from where he proceeded to Daura Teachers College (1990-1992) where he obtained a Teachers Grade II Certificate. After which he attended Isah Kaita College of Education, Dutsin-Ma (1993-1996)where he obtained National Certificate in Education. He equally obtained Bachelor’s Degree in Education (Geography) (2003), Masters Degree in Guidance and Counselling (2010) and Doctor of Philosophy in Guidance and Counselling (2014) all from Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto. However, in 2007 he obtained Certificate in Computer Application and Appreciation from Federal College of Education, Katsina. His job experience started with Katsina state Ministry of Education as a teacher at Government College Katsina (1996-2006) from where he was given an appointment as a Graduate Assistant by Umaru Musa ‘Yar adua University, Katsina state (2006-2012) and currently, a Senior Lecturer, works in Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto. All through his working experience he has held various responsibilities among which are Library Master, Departmental Examinations Officer, Level Coordinator, Faculty Desk Officer, Faculty Examinations Officer, Departmental Postgraduate Coordinator, Examinations Officer (Division of General Studies), Faculty Postgraduate Coordinator, Counselling Officer (Center for Distance and Online Education), Test/Exam Administrator – UDUS Digital Learning Centre, Chairman (Faculty Teaching Practice Coordination Committee) and is Deputy Dean 2, Student Affairs Division of the university. He has also servedin various committees among which are Students Disciplinary Committee, Social Ethics Committee, University Bus Service Management Committee, University Projects Monitoring Committee, and University Security Committee. He has also presented papers at various forums and have published academic papers at national and international journals and books. His marriage has been blessed with children.
