Prof. S. B Manga

Brief Biography

Shuaibu Bala Manga is a Professor of medical microbiology, Faculty of chemical and life sciences of the Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto. He obtained his B.Sc in 1989 from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. He obtained his M.Tech (1994) from the Federal University of Technology Minna. and PhD (2001) from Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto. Prof S. B. Manga joined the services of Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto as a graduate assistant in 1990 in the department of Biological Sciences (Microbiology unit) and later department of Microbiology. He rose from graduate assistant (1990 to become a Professor in 2008. He held many positions at the unit level (Ag Head of Unit twice) and at the departmental level (Ag Head once and Head of department twice). He was the Faculty of Science Examinations Officer in 1992 and in 2004. He served as deputy Director (SIWES). He also served as a director for Registration and Examination of the University for 4 years and also served as a director, School of Matriculation Studies for 4 years. He served and is still serving as external examiner and external assessor to many Universities. He had supervised more than 400 B.Sc Projects and more than 50 M.Sc and PhD dissertations and theses. He is Currently supervising 12 M.Sc and 6 PhD Students. He is also serving in NUC national assignments (accreditation of Undergraduate and Postgraduate programmes of Nigerian Universities) since 2009 to date. He is a member of the Nigerian Society for Microbiology, (NSM) and American Society for Microbiology (ASM). He is happily married with children.
